Equine Feeding Guidelines

Divide feed into a minimum of two equal feedings. Never feed more than 0.5 lbs of grain per 100 lbs of body weight in a single feeding.

The amount of grain fed to any horse will vary depending on forage quality and availability in addition to the animal’s weight, body condition, activity level and age.

All dietary changes should be made slowly over a period of 10-14 days.

If your horse has dental problems or trouble swallowing, this product can be soaked in a small amount of water before feeding.

If feeding less than the daily recommended amount of a concentrated feed, supplement with E-TEC Balancer to meet adequate levels of vitamins and minerals.

If you would like to have your horse’s diet evaluated to ensure it is balanced for all critical nutrients, please contact your Poulin Grain feed specialist.

Testimonials

I am a two star event rider based in New Hampshire. I run a training program and travel to compete in eventing all over the east coast. Our farm has been using Poulin Grain for about 10 years now and we couldn't be happier about how well it works for the horses and how helpful the Poulin team is in finding the right solutions for each horse. We talk with the representatives regularly for their advice and help finding a solution to any of our horses needs, including their forage needs.
I have a few horses competing at the upper levels in eventing, and I've found a balance for them all that keeps enough weight on them as they get into their strenuous fitness programs for competition season, without getting them too "hot".
There are also young horses and very old horses on the farm who thrive on Poulin Grain. Our 39 year old palomino mare looks better than ever, and is still our "babysitter" to the foals. She is happy to romp around with them all day, and doesn't look a day over 20!
I am thrilled to have support from a local company, and am proud to have given them business. Being able to talk to representatives whenever you need, or having them come out to your farm is so helpful and has been an integral part of the success we've had with Poulin.
